Why your 1 TB drive shows 931 GB
Drive makers use decimal units: 1 TB = 1,000,000,000,000 bytes. Windows counts in binary units (1 GiB = 1,073,741,824 bytes) but labels them “GB”, so the same drive appears as about 931 “GB”. No space is missing; it’s two different units with similar names.
