How to use the video to gif converter

    1. Choose a video.
    2. Set the start and end (use Now while playing) and the size.
    3. Select Make GIF.

    Keeping GIFs small

GIF is an old format with big files. Keep clips short (2–6 seconds), use 320–480 pixels wide and 10–12 frames per second. If you need longer or sharper clips, an MP4 is far smaller and plays automatically on most sites.

    Examples

    4 seconds, 480 px, 12 fps

    ≈ 1–3 MB GIF

    4 seconds, 320 px, 8 fps

    ≈ 0.4–1 MB GIF

    Questions

Why does the first conversion take longer?

The first time, your browser downloads the video engine (FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly, about 31 MB) from this site. After that it’s cached, and the work itself runs on your device.

    Are my files uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser on your own device, so your files are never sent to a server.
