How to use the silence remover

    1. Choose an audio file.
    2. Adjust the threshold and minimum pause; shaded areas will be removed.
    3. Select Remove silence.

    Getting natural results

Keep 0.1–0.2 seconds around speech so words aren’t clipped, and only remove pauses longer than about half a second. If background noise is being treated as sound, raise the threshold (towards −30 dB); if quiet words get cut, lower it.

    Examples

    Voice-over with 2-second pauses

    Pauses shortened to 0.3 s

    Threshold −45 dB, minimum 0.6 s

    Good starting point for speech
