How to use the gpa calculator
- Type one course per line: the grade, then the credits.
- Use letter grades (A, B+, C−) or points (3.7).
- Leave out the credits to count a course as 1.
How GPA is calculated
Each grade is converted to points (A = 4.0, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0 and so on), multiplied by the course’s credits, and summed. Dividing by total credits gives the GPA, so bigger courses count for more.
Grade points used
A+ and A = 4.0, A− = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, B− = 2.7, C+ = 2.3, C = 2.0, C− = 1.7, D+ = 1.3, D = 1.0, D− = 0.7, F = 0. Some schools use different scales, so check your school’s rules.
